Plants & Turtles in the Face of Development
Mary St. Centre, 24 Mary St, Parry Sound
In eastern Georgian Bay, development impacts such as roadways and transmission lines can fragment pristine habitat, and are likely to have measurable effects on local ecology. Local First Nations, not-for-profits, and municipalities identified several habitats adjacent to development as conservation priority areas, with the turtle and plant communities as research priorities. Brooke Carroll shares her research - what the local impacts observed are, and how communities can navigate these land-use changes within local habitats.
